Changes – Bowie was apparently referring to his compulsive nature of artistic reinvention.
Change for me is getting close now; retirement. A reinvention, if you will. It instills an odd mix of excitement and trepidation.
Now begins the transition. A period of disengagement between old and new. Many that have left the military before me have stated this is a necessity.
For me, this will manifest as a motorcycle trip.
This will require a refresh to the blog, and that has already begun. You will notice a few changes immediately; the first being the logo. It is amazing how people interpret things in completely different ways.
“No two persons ever read the same book.” – Edmund Wilson. So very true.
The original logo (right) was intended as a stylized moustache, which displayed within the latte art of the cup on the ‘saucer.’
Feedback suggests not everyone saw that. Other interpretations of the original design alternated between a derrière and women’s breasts, not a moustache. Not exactly what I was aiming for, but also not what I saw. The corrected logo should be much clearer now.
The other small modifications can be seen with the compass rose. It now displays 16 points, vice eight.
Aside from the updated logo, there are changes to the site itself. It now includes a Gallery, which will host images from an associated Instagram account. This will permit constant updates from the aforementioned motorcycle trip. This Transition Tour will be a journey of a few weeks; starting here in Ottawa and heading through the US and Canada. It will be a time of reflection and business planning. It will be an opportunity to visit coffeehouses and to meet and speak with the people in them.
Travel always allows me to focus. This time, forward; and not looking back.
