Wishing All A Happy New Year And Awesome 2019

So that was a crazy holiday season and start to 2019. I equally hope that everyone started the new year, and enjoyed some  holiday time surrounded by family and friends.

For me, I enjoyed dancing in the new year to a perfect ’90s playlist and a room full of new friends; and these awesome (pictured) disco lights.

Before that night of dancing though, I first barrelled headlong into the Christmas period by hosting two pre-Christmas charcuterie evenings. Then, on Christmas day, I cooked a 25-pound turkey to feed a bulk of my immediate family. Truly a great evening. We did this last year as well, and it is very much worth the effort.

The 26th was a slight breather before enjoying another family gathering on the 27th. It is good to be home where we can enjoy such easy access to family; we’ve missed a lot of these over the years.

Unique this year was following this period of family festivity with a three-day course. I am now a certified alpine ski instructor and have found myself a job teaching skiing for the rest of the winter. I am very excited by this; a job I have always wanted. Even better though, will be working side-by-side with my oldest daughter. Amazing! (For me anyway)

I won’t be working full-time though, ensuring I can still host my open mic and trivia nights; and of course, build a coffee business.

Through December I was able to look at two vintage VW campers and was close to a third, but with no luck – yet. Now, with 2019 upon us, I will resume my search and get this business up and running. I have a few good leads to follow and have a little momentum now. It has been slow, but that was to be expected. No problem. I am enjoying the journey.

I have now made contact with the city and Ottawa Public Health, and they have provided a good download of information to work through. This will definitely help guide my efforts. There are of course some great companies out there to study and learn from as well.

A new year and a fresh start. With any luck, and of course a lot of work, this will hopefully be there year I realize my dream and get some great coffee into the hands of some amazing people.

Stay tuned for the e-commerce build to this site where I will soon be peddling some shirts and, in time, some awesome beans.

The next open mic night at Anabia Cupcakery Cafe is January 11 from 8-10pm and then there will be a trivia night on January 26. We are trying out a Saturday night trivia, vice Thursday, to see how this might better serve the community. Come on out and support a local business.

Thank you for following me this far. A lot happened in 2018 and setting this blog up, and having a supportive readership, was an enjoyable and rewarding part of the year. Stayed tuned this year as it will be the first year where I can focus on this goal fully.

All the best in 2019!
